Terms

secondbrain. Effective 5 September 2026.

Short, because there is not much to agree to. Using secondbrain means you are happy with the following.

This is a private beta

secondbrain is invitation only while it is being built. Things will change, occasionally without warning, and a feature that is here today may be different next week.

It is provided as is

There is no warranty of any kind, and no promise that the service will be available or that nothing will ever be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The export button is there for exactly that.

Keep your sign in to yourself

Your account is yours. Do not hand your sign in, or a device that is signed in, to somebody else, and tell us if you think somebody has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Be kind

Do not use secondbrain to break the law, to harm anybody, or to store anything you have no right to hold. Do not attack the service, try to reach another person's account, or hammer it with automated traffic. Whatever you write stays yours, and no ownership of it passes to anybody by your using this app.

The beta can end

JD can end the beta, or close an account that is being used against these terms, at any time. If the beta ends you will be told, and you will have a fair chance to export your things before anything is switched off.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Michigan, in the United States.
